Why All Flat Irons Are Not Created Equally

Flat irons can be as cheap as $15 and as pricey as $500. And yet they all utilize the same terminology. They are available in a wide variety shapes and sizes. Irons with small plates are more suited for shorter, less voluminous manes. Those with large paddle-shaped heating plates are typically used to straighten thick or long hair. Purse-size flat irons are convenient to store and carry for travel or quick touchups. Some flat iron heating plates are mounted on a rounded barrel so the iron can be used to impart volume or curl to the hairstyle.
Some of the added features available on some flat irons include automatic cut off, temperature settings, dual voltage, swivel power cord and a rechargeable DC power source. The automatic cut off saves electricity and reduces the risk of fire. For travelers, a built-in voltage compensator allows the iron to be used in countries with 220 volt power. While using the flat iron, the swivel power cord and battery-powered irons reduce or eliminate cord entanglement
