A hair conditioner is used after the hair has been shampooed and still wet. The function of a conditioner is to make the hair soft, smooth and feel moisturized. Sometimes a conditioner is used to detangle the hair and make it easy to comb but a conditioner is different from a detangler. Nearly all conditioners are too heavy for thin fine hair.
A conditioner leaves the hair feeling smooth and silky; it adheres to the hair shaft making the hair slippery and smother. Sometimes hair also attracts dirt more easily than without conditioner. A few conditioners are called leave in conditioners and this means, do not rinse it out. All other get rinsed out prior to toweling the hair dry. Ensure the conditioner is rinsed very well if not the hair will appear oily and dirty.
